Penelope Kokkinides and Innovacare Take On the Puerto Rico Problem

Penelope Kokkinides has proven throughout her career that she is not afraid to work hard to take on some of the large battles facing the healthcare industry. she is now at the tip of the spear with Innovacare Health working to enhance the healthcare coverage available to citizens of Puerto Rico. With federal funding cuts in excess of $1 billion annually over the last 6 years, Puerto Rico has taken a disproportionate hit compared to those seen in the states. She brought the issue up at the recent Women in Healthcare Panel at the White House with President Trump and CMS Administrator Seema Verma. She spoke of the importance of dedicating more funds to Puerto Rico’s Medicare Advantage plan. The plan is the island’s most popular plan and adjustments to the payments by CMS would help to begin working Puerto Rico out of their current healthcare situation. Innovacare Health currently serves over 560,000 individuals in Purto Rico and Kokkinides says that any help for the company would be passed on tho the individual customer level.
